My experience with The Four Agreements has been a real life changer. Many things have happened to me that have made my life a lot better than it was. This book I can say is very powerful to the mind and I would recommend that everybody gets the chance to read it, even if it were a few pages. This book really does have the power to change lives and make them easier, safer, and happier than ever before.
When I first read the intro to the novel it gave me a very different idea of what it was first starting off. I thought it would be a story about that guy (see literary analysis) and his attempt to try to convince people about what he discovered out at the cave. However, when I got further into the book, I then realized that this book was more of a guide then a story, and I digged that. Through reading this book I realized how much I agree with what this knowledge is saying. I've never really had an accurate detailed idea of how we are molded throughout our life but this book helped give me an idea of how people are the way they are and how we are domesticated all the same way. Some other things I learned about myself is all of the bad agreements that I have made with myself that make me victimize myself thousands of times. I learned that there are a lot of things in my life that are mistakes, and I haven't forgiven myself for them. This book taught me that I suffer from these mistakes and that I need to learn to let go of the emotional poison before I give it to others. I have learned that I can learn to stop victimizing myself for these mistakes to make room for new agreements with myself about love and happiness. This whole idea of freedom is something that I will remember for a long time, the act of breaking bad agreements and forming new ones for good. I have also learned a lot about not sticking yourself to others standards. Coming from the agreement for always doing your best, I learned that your best isn't necessarily going to live up to others expectations. However, just because it's not their standards, and they might be disappointed with you for it, your best is still worth it because it's valuable to you. If you always try your best, it doesn't matter if you fail because you put your valuable time and effort into it. Even though I have finished this book already. I still read a couple paragraphs a day just to give me a goal to be nice for the day. It really helps me to try and do my best at keeping my agreements with me every day. This is another reason why I love this book because it's so much like a guide that it can be read at any point at any time without getting confused as to what is going on. I would have to recomment this book to anybody that knows deep down they have some stuff from the past or right now thatis holding them back or stuff that makes them suffer mentally. I mainly recommend everybody read this book but it will be the most impactful to people who have issues with things in their life. This book can truly bring you through tough times and I stand behind that because it brought me through tough times. I would strongly recommend keeping this book in your bag or purse and take it wherever you go just in case something happens and you need to know what to do to handle it. This book truly shows you how powerful novels can be and it clearly shows the strong link between the ideas of a book and the mental state of the mind. I hope this book changes your life forever, as it has changed mine. |
